Mike Johns, owner and lead technician

Logical Chaos Solutions is one technician who takes the call, designs the network, installs it, and stands behind it — a problem-solver, not a reseller.

The operator

Owner-operated, on purpose

Logical Chaos Solutions is run by Mike Johns out of Grants Pass, Oregon. When you call, you get Mike. When someone walks your property, that is Mike. When the access points go up and the rack gets labeled, same person. Nothing is handed to a subcontractor and nothing routes through a call center.

That structure is deliberate. Networks are systems, and systems are easier to fix when the person fixing them designed and built them. It also means there is exactly one person accountable for the result — which tends to keep the standard high.

Mike is a technician, not a reseller. There is no hardware quota to hit and no product line to push, so the conversation starts with your space, your usage, and your budget — and ends with the solution that fits. If you would rather buy the equipment yourself, that is genuinely fine; bring it and he will make it work.

Why UniFi is usually the answer

One platform, known deeply — but never the only option

Specializing means knowing a platform properly instead of half-knowing six. UniFi is where that depth lives, and it is what most jobs land on. When something else fits your situation better, we build that instead.

One system, not five apps

Gateway, switching, wireless, and Protect cameras live under a single controller. One login, one place to look when something is wrong.

Visibility that helps

Per-device insight, historical stats, and alerting mean problems get diagnosed with data instead of guesses — often remotely.

Serviceable and expandable

Adding an access point, a camera, or a switch later is an afternoon, not a redesign. The system grows with the property.

Real segmentation

VLANs, guest isolation, and firewall policy are first-class features, not an afterthought bolted onto consumer gear.

You own it

The hardware is yours and the footage records locally. No rented gateway, no mandatory monthly to keep your cameras working.

Depth, plus flexibility

Knowing one platform's quirks, firmware behavior, and right-hardware-for-the-room is a real advantage — and it does not stop us building with other brands when they are the better call.

How we work

A few things you can count on

Straight answers

If a cheaper fix will solve your problem, we say so. If what you are asking for will not work, we say that too — before the invoice, not after.

Clean work

Cable run properly, gear mounted level, terminations labeled. The install should look as good behind the panel as it does in the room.

Documentation

You get a record of what was installed, how it is configured, and what is plugged into what. It is your network.

Reachable

Seven days a week, 7am to 10pm. Local service problems do not respect business hours, so neither do we.

Scoped to your budget

Tell us what you are working with. We will design to it, phase it if that helps, and say plainly when the cheaper option is the right one.

Your hardware is welcome

Buy through us or buy it yourself — either is fine. There is no requirement to purchase equipment here to get the work done right.

"If it is not something I would run in my own house, it is not going in yours."

— Mike Johns, owner, Logical Chaos Solutions

Solutions, not sales pitches

Solutions, not sales pitches

Ubiquiti UniFi is our go-to platform and the one we know best — but it is never the only option on the table. The job is to pair you with the solution that actually fits your space, your usage, and your budget.

UniFi-first, not UniFi-only

UniFi is what we work in daily, hands-on, at depth — gateways, switching, wireless, and cameras. That depth is a real advantage, and it is where most jobs land. It is a starting point, not a rule.

Comfortable across other platforms

When another brand or approach is the better answer — because of existing equipment, a specific requirement, or what the budget allows — we are experienced enough to build it that way and support it after.

Every job starts with listening

Before any hardware is named we want to understand the building, how you actually use it, what is already installed, and what you are trying to spend. The design follows from that.

Matched to your needs

Recommendations are based on what solves your problem — not on what is easiest to sell. If you do not need the expensive option, we will tell you, and we will explain why.

Budget-friendly by design

Real constraints are normal. Tell us the number you are working with and we will scope to it honestly, instead of handing you a bloated quote and hoping.

Phased when it makes sense

Not everything has to happen at once. We will happily build in stages — solve the painful part now, leave clean groundwork for cameras or expansion later.
